There was a lot to love about the MacBook Neo when it first launched, not least its price. While unfortunately, that has now increased by £100 (we can thank the AI boom for that), it’s still a very capable laptop that offers a couple of pleasing quirks that other MacBooks in Apple’s range don’t.
There's a colour-matched keyboard, for starters, and similarly matched menus in macOS.
But while Apple clearly had colour in mind when it designed the MacBook Neo, given it’s the only MacBook to be offered in brighter and more vibrant colours than grey and silver (the Sky Blue MacBook Air is an exception, though this is basically a bluey silver), the company doesn’t have any official matching accessories available to complement the Blush and Citrus Neo options.
What do the Satechi MacBook Neo accessories offer?
But don’t worry, renowned accessory manufacturer Satechi has come to the rescue.
As spotted by Yanko Design, Satechi has a MacBook Neo Collection that features three accessories, all of which are available in the four Neo colours: Indigo, Citrus, Blush and Silver. There are two USB-C hubs and a wireless mouse.
Now, if you’ve been considering the MacBook Neo, or you have already invested, you’ll understand why a USB-C hub might come in handy. The entry-level MacBook only has two USB-C ports of its own (plus a 3.5mm headphone jack), but the Satechi USB-C Snap Hub connects to both, allowing it to then sit flush against the side of the Neo.
It has a colour-matched aluminium finish on top and the same soft-touch ABS material as the Neo’s keyboard underneath. It then replaces the Neo’s two USB-C ports with six different alternatives, including a 4K/60Hz HDMI output, USB-A, USB-C, SD and microSD card slots, and 45W pass-through for charging.
The OntheGo 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter, meanwhile, is circular, connects to one of the Neo’s single USB-C ports via a braided cable, and its ports include a 4K/60Hz HDMI output, 60W USB-C pass-through charging, dual 5Gbps data ports, and an SD card reader.
It also has a magnetic base so it will snap onto the back of a MagSafe-compatible iPhone or the lid of the Neo.
Last but not least, the Slim EX Wireless Mouse has a colour-matched aluminium body, a USB-C rechargeable battery, quiet click switches and a precision-machined scroll wheel.
The Satechi MacBook Neo collection is available in the US now, with the USB-C Snap Hub and OntheGo 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter both costing $44.99, while the Slim EX Wireless Mouse costs $29.99. UK availability has not yet been announced.
