Steven Gerrard sent a message to Celtic supporters after being pelted with objects following his penalty at Anfield in today's Liverpool Legends game.
Gerrard returned to captain a Liverpool side that took on the Scottish giants on Saturday afternoon. The Kop icon missed both of last season’s legends games.
After being in Italy for England's EURO 2024 qualifier on Thursday, the former Rangers boss returned to the UK suffering with a chest infection that had left him bedridden and unable to properly prepare.

However, Gerrard was fit enough to start, and he opened the scoring with a first-half penalty in the charity match after Martin Skrtel was brought down inside the box. Mark Gonzalez then added a second for the hosts moments into the second half.
Gerrard’s opener came just minutes after he was booed standing over a free kick. And as he raced away after scoring from the spot, items, including bottles and coins, were thrown in the direction of the celebrating 42-year-old and his team-mates.
Addressing the incident after the game, Gerrard said: "It was definitely a penalty. Martin Skrtel's excellent bursting through like a marauding midfielder. Stonewall penalty.
"There was only one taker from there and that's me, in front of the Celtic fans. A little bit of pressure, I waited for (Artur Boruc) to go, and you have to milk it. I've had so much stick off them so they can have a bit back. There you go."
