The National Football League (NFL) is partnering with sports technology company StatusPRO on an official VR game.
Aside from knowing the game will be available on PlayStation VR and Meta Quest, there aren’t many details yet. Status Pro has a wealth of experience taking actual player data for augmented reality that many NFL teams use for training programs.
“Virtual reality gaming is rapidly expanding and our partnership with StatusPRO allows us to explore a new immersive version of NFL gaming with support of the two largest VR platforms within this emerging space,” Joe Ruggiero, SVP of Consumer Products at the NFL, said in a press release. “We are seeing a growing number of fans engaging with VR and we’re excited to launch the first-ever VR gaming title that complements our existing offerings in the market today.”

Andrew Hawkins, former wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, co-founded StatusPRO several years ago.
“We are grateful to the NFL and our community of investors and stakeholders who share our vision to create an entirely new standard in sports and gaming,” Hawkins said. “We keep the athlete first in everything we do, and as former football players it means even more to be able to recreate what it actually feels like to step out on the field. Through our proprietary technology at StatusPRO, we can deliver an immersive experience that helps NFL fans transform into pro athletes.”
There’s no release date for the official NFL VR game, but it’s apparently an annual release like EA’s Madden, FIFA, or NHL titles.
