Therapist inducted into hall of fame

A West Lothian massage therapist has become the first in Scotland to be inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame and will travel to in North Carolina in the States to receive the award.

Sally Chamness said she is delighted after her work in championing massage therapy as a great resource for physical and mental wellbeing.

For 12 years, as Wee Sallys Therapeutic Massage, she has served the communities of West Lothian providing massage therapy to aid in recovery, rehabilitation, relaxation and stress relief.

Her team has expanded over the years and after a fire in 2019, resurrected into Phoenix Health and Wellness centre.

Sally said: “Our team of four therapists and two yoga instructors offer a wide variety of soft tissue therapies and movement classes to help our community with a variety of ailments.

“We added floatation therapy to our centre in June 2021 as a hands-off form of relaxation and therapy helping with mental health and anxiety issues.

“Through championing for the survival of the local high street I have been mentioned in Scottish Parliament for promoting Shop Local, and Choose Bathgate campaigns.

“Nominated and voted for by existing members of the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame I am honoured to be attending my Induction ceremony at the Harrahs Cherokee hotel in North Carolina in July.”

The Massage Therapy Hall of Fame is curated by the World Massage Festival, an event which promotes Massage Therapy of all kinds throughout the world, bringing thousands of therapists together to learn and share experiences.

Sally added: “I am humbled to have been invited to join some of the world’s best known massage therapists, and hope I can use this platform to continue to promote massage therapy here in Scotland and encourage people to consider massage as part of their self-care routines.”
