First Lady Melania Trump has shared the White House's Christmas decorations for 2025, which mark a celebration at the very foundation of the United States: Independence Day.
The Christmas decor, which also celebrates a 'Home Is Where the Heart Is' mark next year's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 – a milestone many refer to as 'America250'.
A statement issued by the White House said Christmas is a time to celebrate what makes the country exceptional and that, while every home has its own traditions, shared values unite citizens.
'In every community, we are lifted by simple acts of kindness that reflect the enduring American spirit of generosity, patriotism, and gratitude,” the statement said. “These moments remind us that the heart of America is strong and that Home Is Where The Heart Is,' it says.

In the East Room (seen above), this theme particularly comes out to play. The patriotic red, white, and blue palettes are elevated with golden eagle toppers, state-and-territory ornaments, and 250 star motifs that gesture directly to the milestone year.
The theme similarly extends this historical framing by treating the White House as both a family residence and a symbol of American identity.
Complementing the interiors, the White House Historical Association’s official 2025 ornament (available at Amazon) features text from the Declaration printed on linen and finished in 24-karat gold – underscores the commemoration, and you can get the same look at home.

The theme continues in the Red Room (above), where a traditional Christmas color palette reigns. It features over 10,000 handcrafted blue butterflies and ornaments inspired by the 'Be Best' campaign (launched by Melania Trump when she was First Lady in 2018, focusing on the well-being of children) that blend whimsy with a message of growth and care.
Alongside the traditional reds and golds, the Christmas tree details bring a contemporary, almost immersive quality to the room. It's both homely and patriotic, resonating with the broader celebration of the 250th anniversary.
