The Warehouse Project announces opening headliners for 2022 season

One of Manchester’s most iconic club nights is coming back with a bang this August Bank Holiday. Kicking things off slightly earlier than usual, The Warehouse Project will return with a one-off concert to mark its latest season of events.

Returning to Depot Mayfield, the night will see critically acclaimed DJ Bonobo perform a full live show alongside Dan Snaith’s Caribou. The huge bank holiday double-header will be the first time the British producer has played at The Warehouse Project since the event’s first-ever season back in 2018.

The 2022 show will take place on Friday, August 26, and will run from 7-11pm. Presale will be available on Wednesday, April 28 from 10am, while general tickets sales start from 10am on Thursday, April 28.

Bonobo, also known as Simon Green released his new album ‘Fragments’ earlier this year - his first in five years - and is currently on the European leg of his tour. Canadian electronic artist and producer Caribou, meanwhile, released his track ‘You Can Do It’ last summer, premiering the track during his headline set at Green Man festival in the Brecon Beacons.

Few venues are as well suited to massive club nights as Depot Mayfield, the once-abandoned warehouse next to Piccadilly station. The 10,000 capacity space was transformed as part of a major regeneration project in 2019, providing a platform for a wide variety of cultural and musical events.

Everything from Manchester Pride Live to The Warehouse Project has taken place in the space, which is also home to Escape to Freight Island. Earlier this month it was announced that American rock band The National would be performing a special headline show at the venue as part of Warehouse Project’s opening weekend.

The award-winning band, who last performed in Manchester back in July 2019 at Castlefield Bowl as part of the Sounds of the City will take to the stage on Sunday, August 27 - their biggest gig in the city to date.

Further shows planned for WHP22 will be announced soon, keep an eye on the What’s On page for more details.
