Scared of the Dark star and The Wanted band member Max George has spoken out about losing his best friend and bandmate Tom Parker who died in March 2022 of an aggressive brain tumour. Speaking in a trailer for the show George broke down as he shared to his fellow castmates, including Gazza and Scarlett Moffatt, what he said to his longtime friend with whom he had been in a band with since 2009.
George initially said that he had not drank alcohol for two years. When Gazza commented it was good "considering the industry" he worked in the pop star continued: "There were like other sort of reasons. Because of Tom I realised that it took, oh f***ing hell..."

"Was he married with kids?" asked Gazza as Max paused to compose himself. He then went on: "Yeah, his second was due a week after he got diagnosed. He had glioblastoma, which is incurable brain cancer and it was at stage four when they found it.
"How do you deal with it? There's no cure for that so you just sort of learn to carry on with your life I guess. But deal with it – definitely not. I don't think I'll ever be okay with it," Max added in a voiceover interview.
“One of the last things I said to him was – I thanked him for making my life so much better than what it ever could have been, you know, like that whole journey through being in the band.
“He was my best friend,” he added before he began to cry. The former Strictly Come Dancing celeb has revealed in the past that he still accidentally texts his late friend.
