Emma Willis has revealed her six-year-old daughter is “desperate” to try out for The Voice Kids.
The beloved presenter is back to host the series which sees singers between the ages of seven and 14 perform in the hope of turning the red chairs and become The Voice Kids champion 2022.
With the latest instalment almost upon us, the 46-year-old admitted the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree in her house, with her youngest showing signs that she wants to follow in dad Matt Willis’ musical footsteps.
However, Willis explained that her daughter, who she says has a “fantastic voice”, is unable to audition due to her fronting the talent show.
Speaking to press at the show’s launch, the ITV host shared: “I have three kids that are exactly the right age to audition for this show. They are six, 11 and 13.
“They have been performing for as long as they could in the house, coming out of wardrobes and singing because they have been brought up around that.
“We are very protective of them, we let them do certain things, but we always want to make sure they’re measured,” she continued.
“But my six-year-old is desperate to get on that stage. She asks me every time The Voice is on, ‘when can I go audition?’
“’Well, one you’re not allowed to because you’re my daughter and it’s not allowed, but two, you’re not ready’ – and that’s my job as a parent to make sure they’re OK.”
The TV host, who is married to Busted’s Matt Willis, added that the series is a great experience for youngsters considering a career in the music industry and gives them great insight into what it takes.
“[The show] is fun,” she added.
“It gives them confidence, and an insight into what they might want to get into and gives them that understanding from a very early age rather then expecting the world and potentially not getting it.”
Willis joins returning coaches will.i.am, McFly’s Danny Jones and Pixie Lott in welcoming Ronan Keating to the panel.
Keating, 45, replaces Spice Girl Mel C, who was unable to return to the show due to her tour.
Speaking of joining the show, the Boyzone singer said: “I’m super excited to join the coaching panel for The Voice Kids.
“I feel part of The Voice family already after a phenomenal experience doing the show in Australia. The Voice Kids is amazing and I’m truly passionate about nurturing young talent.”
