The video of White Sox prospect Oscar Colas telling his mom he made the team was so great

With Opening Day less than 24 hours away, teams across MLB have worked to finalize their rosters for the regular season. That meant some tough choices were made about who was going to make the Opening Day roster and who wasn’t.

For Chicago White Sox prospect Oscar Colas, it meant hearing the news he had waited his lifetime to receive.

Colas — the No. 2 prospect in the White Sox organization — officially made the Opening Day roster this week. And the White Sox video team was all over the 23-year-old’s reaction to the great news. They shared video of him walking from manager Pedro Grifol’s office to the clubhouse. He couldn’t contain his smile.

We also saw as he called his mother to let her know that he made the big-league club.

Honestly, these moments never get old.

Colas jumped through the White Sox’s minor-league system in just one season where he hit .314 with 23 home runs. He’s expected to play outfield with the White Sox — though he did pitch and play first base in the Cuban league.

Baseball fans loved seeing this personal moment from Colas.
