One member of The Vamps, James McVey, has a hidden link to Merseyside that you may not know about.
Speaking exclusively to the Liverpool ECHO, the former I’m a Celeb contestant revealed that his roots come from Huyton, in Knowsley. He said he often returns to the Merseyside town as his grandparents live there.
Despite having more than 3m social media followers, and touring the world with huge hits such as All Night, Somebody To You and Can We Dance, the band said that Liverpool is somewhere that they always like to return to. They will be heading to the M&S Bank Arena in December as part of their Greatest Hits tour.

When asked what their favourite part of coming to Liverpool is, guitarist James McVey said: "My grandparents live in Huyton and I’ve spent a lot of my time up there and I love whenever we play the arena because it’s up at the Albert Dock which I also spent a lot of time at growing up.
"It’s kind of like coming home strangely but as The Vamps, we’ve always been in [Liverpool] from the very early days and it’s always a stop off on the tour so it’s going to be great coming at the end of the year."
Although originally from Chester, James admitted his band mates haven’t been to visit his old stomping grounds. He added: “I think it’d be too much for my poor nan to cope, all this masculinity.”
The band have previously collaborated with huge names such as Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendez and Sigala and are the only band to ever headline the O2 five years in a row. They will kick off their Greatest Hits Tour on November 22 and will be in Liverpool on December 7.
They will also be releasing a special fanzine, named Ten Years of the Vamps, to help commemorate their huge milestone. It will be released on October 14 and is available to pre-order now from here .
