Imagine winning the first Olympic gold medal for your country after four decades of drought. You’re invited to the White House, expecting to feast with the president of the United States. Instead, you’re served McDonald’s.
That’s exactly what happened to the USA men’s hockey team when they were invited to the White House on Tuesday, February 24. The wrapper-clad burgers and sausage burritos were served to the men’s team, much to the dismay of social media users.
But social media users are trolling the so-called feast, with one posting, “Yay, MAHA!” The irony in that statement is hard to miss.

There’s nothing wrong with McDonald’s—everyone eats it, but it’s hardly appropriate to serve it to athletes who worked hard to bring prestige to the country. Perhaps it’s best that the women’s team was able to skip the White House visit altogether.
Is the US Women’s Hockey Team visiting the White House?
In a phone call, President Donald Trump confirmed that he would invite the gold-winning US Women’s Hockey Team to the White House.
“I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team. You do know that?” he said, adding that if he didn’t, he “would probably be impeached.”
So if not for the possibility of a backlash, Trump wouldn’t be inviting the women’s team? The misogyny could barely hide behind the poor joke. But it’s expected, given Trump’s proclivities against women. But if he’s concerned about impeachment, he has a host of issues that could make it happen—from the botched release of the Epstein files to the ICE crackdowns in Minnesota, to name a few.
According to a USA Hockey spokesperson, the women’s team was invited but declined to go due to prior commitments.
So what are some of the “prior commitments” in question? Apparently, one is an invite from Flavor Flav to Las Vegas. The rapper posted on his X account, “If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite, I’ll host them in Las Vegas.”

That sure beats McDonald’s at the White House.
