Shakira reportedly worked out that her ex-husband Gerard Pique was 'unfaithful' after she found the contents of her strawberry jam jar eaten in their fridge.
The Columbian singer and football star Pique had been together for 11 years before they separated last summer and according to reports, the relationship did not end amicably. Pique, 35, has now moved on from their bitter split with 23-year-old PR student Clara Chia and the two have been together since last October.
Since the couple announced their split last year, rumours of the Barcelona footballer's infidelity have circulated but now Shakira has made a nod to the adultery in her recent music video. The mother-of-two opens the fridge door and finds the head of the song’s collaborator, Rauw Alejandro, with fans deducing that she found the “truth in the fridge”.
It's been reported that the biggest clue pointing towards Pique's indiscretions was the empty jam jar in the fridge that Shakira found after returning from travelling. Pique has never liked strawberry jam, so it was unlikely he would have ate it, leading the popstar to conclude someone else had been in their house, according to ShowNews Today.
Last week, Shakira released her latest song with Argentine DJ Bizarrap, titled Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol 53 which addressed the star's recent dramas. In the song, Shakira, 45, alludes to everything from her her tax evasion battle with the Spanish government to living next to her in laws, as well as detailing how Pique allegedly dropped her during her struggles.
When the harsh Spanish lyrics are translated into English they appear to call out her ex's behaviour, particularly as it is rumoured Gerard and Clara began seeing each other before his marriage to Shakira ended. The chart-topper has enjoyed the last laugh as her 'revenge' song has gone viral across social media, leaving fans praising the Columbian popstar.
One fan wrote: "men are an absolute insane species fr like ur gonna cheat SHAKIRA?? and let the woman EAT UR WIFES JAM?? THE MOTHER OR UR CHILDREN??," while another penned: "imagine having the audacity not only to f*** shakira’s man but to eat shakira’s jam."
"she not only slept with shakira's man but also ate SHAKIRA's jam.....the nerve," said a third. A fourth echoed: "Shakira really said: GERARD, WHY IS THIS STRAWBERRY JAM JAR EMPTY UP IN THIS B****?"
This comes after Shakira was reportedly planning to move to Miami with the couple's two children, but due to her father's ill health, moving plans have been put on hold.
