NEW DELHI: ‘Behind every successful man, there is a woman’, they say. In the case of Paralympics champion women athletes Simran Sharma and Preeti Pal, there were two male guiding lights — Gajendra Singh and Abhay Singh, who believed in their human potential and their desire to challenge deep-rooted beliefs regarding disability.
Simran was born with a visual impairment while Preeti suffered from weak legs and an irregular posture, making her prone to various diseases. Despite the hardships, both were fighters and demonstrated incredible strength and resilience to win medals in Paris.
