From the highly anticipated return of Luminate, to the Richard Burton 10k and even Kris Kringle – Neath Port Talbot has a jam-packed schedule of unmissable events in the lead up to Christmas. Right from the start of November and through December, there’s a host of events lined up suitable for the whole family.
Whether you’re looking for a festive family day out or a charity challenge returning for a big anniversary – there’s something for to appeal to everyone.
Here, we've compiled just a few of the must-see events taking place in Neath Port Talbot, which are being supported by Neath Port Talbot Council’s Dramatic Heart of Wales campaign.
Bonfire Night
A variety of firework events are set to light up the sky across Neath Port Talbot for Bonfire Night. On November 4 from 5.50pm, Bryncoch RFC will be hosting its own firework display, while Margam Park will also be hosting a family-friendly Guy Fawkes Fun with the Friends of Margam Park event on the same day from 11am to 3pm. Neath RFC is also set to host its bonfire night event at The Gnoll on the 4th from 5pm with children’s entertainment, rides, and stalls all planned.
Tata Steel Richard Burton 10k
The Tata Steel Richard Burton 10K is making a return later this month for its 40th anniversary. It will take place on November 6 from 10am. As well as the main race, there will also be a special 10k for Tata employees only and the Tata Steel Runtech Keven Webber Mini Miler Fun Run which is open for children under the age of 15 to enter.
Community Christmas Tree Festival
The Community Christmas Tree Festival is set to return to Margam Castle on November 12 and will run until November 27. In partnership with The Friends of Margam Park, the event brings together groups from the community, businesses, schools and many more to decorate their own tree which is displayed in the castle. The event will also see the castle transformed into a winter wonderland with numerous Christmas trees on display, with the historic building opening its doors to visitors.

Luminate Wales
The enchanting Christmas light spectacular is returning to Margam Country Park and castle on November 17. The mile-long trail will feature all new light installations and interactive elements for the whole family. Tickets can be booked here and must be booked in advance. Miracle on 34th Street
This Christmas classic with a twist will be playing out on the stage at Pontardawe Arts Centre from November 17 to December 4. Following the success of It’s A Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play, Lighthouse Theatre return with Miracle on 34th Street, set in a 1940s New York Live broadcasting studio. Santa deer feed
You can take the family to watch Santa feed the deer at Margam Park from Saturday, December 3 onwards. The feed will start promptly at 11am, and guests are asked to make sure they arrive at least half an hour before to ensure they are in place on the castle terrace. 'Elf me' workshops
Billed as the ultimate Christmas experience, a trip to Margam Park this Christmas will see young members of your family given a makeover and transformed into elves. There will be workshops from December 3 to 18 at Margam Castle for those aged three to 12, which will see them given a makeover, then enjoy games, arts and crafts. Click here for tickets.
