Ukraine's equivalent of Graham Norton made his opening broadcast for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest from a bomb shelter. Timur Miroshnychenko could be seen broadcasting from a stone-walled and apparently subterranean room on Tuesday night, while performers from 17 countries took to the stage in Turin, Italy.
An Instagram post from the local broadcaster said: "Our commentator Timur Miroshnychenko works from a bomb shelter."
He is a Ukrainian TV presenter for the channel UA:PBC, co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017, when it took place in Kyiv, and has provided commentary for the show since then. Ukraine’s entry by the Kalush Orchestra are favourites for the competition were among the first to be voted through to the Grand Final in Turin, Italy.
