The two changes Newcastle United supporters would like Eddie Howe to make for Leeds clash

Newcastle United supporters would like to see Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson named in the starting eleven for the home clash with Leeds United. The Magpies are aiming to record a seventh straight Premier League win when they sign off for 2022 at St James' Park.

Eddie Howe was forced into one change for the Boxing Day victory at Leicester City, with Wilson's illness leading to a recall for Chris Wood. The January signing netted a penalty after just three minutes, and the head coach has praised the 31-year-old's recent performances.

Saint-Maximin began the campaign in blistering form, but has been sidelined by several injury setbacks in recent months. The Magpies number 10 was introduced as a late substitute in the 3-0 win at the King Power Stadium, and could be a candidate for a start should Howe opt to shuffle the pack.

Newcastle's schedule is already looking hectic following the World Cup break, with a top-of-the-table clash at Arsenal next on the list on January 3. The Emirates Stadium showdown is then followed by cup ties away at Sheffield Wednesday and at home to Leicester City.

However, fans would like to see Howe largely stick with the same starting eleven as Nick Pope keeps his place in goal. The defensive unit remains the same, but Joelinton drops into a midfield role in place of Willock.

This switch allows Saint-Maximin to return to his usual left-wing role, with the in-form Miguel Almiron unsurprisingly continuing on the right flank. Howe hinted that Wilson would be in contention for a start, and fans would like to see the number nine return in place of Wood.
