Sky’s new drama Amadeus is an entertaining new take on Peter Shaffer’s original play about the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (played by Will Sharpe) and the older composer Antonio Salieri (Paul Bettany). It’s full of sex, mayhem and bitter jealousy – along with some dastardly plotting on behalf of Salieri – but how much is real?
Thankfully, many accounts survive, including Mozart’s own letters from the time.
