When North Wales Live writer Thomas Lewis paid a visit to the Good Taste Bistro in Colwyn Bay, one of the area's finest cafes according to a plethora of "overwhelmingly positive reviews", that is situated just a few yards off the A55 and across the way from the Bay View shopping centre, he got a lot more bang for his buck that he was expecting.
Run by the "friendly Eddi and his excellent team", he explained how the Good Taste Bistro has a "superb" reputation for the high quality of food on offer - and at great value. One Tripadvisor reviewer dubbed it the "Best place in Colwyn Bay".
Arriving at the Sea View Road establishment one beautiful spring lunchtime, the reporter saw the cafe was busy despite it being a relatively quiet day and was soon greeted warmly by the staff - including Eddi, the owner, himself.

After being shown to a seat, handed a menu and indulging in a brief chat with the staff, Thomas perused the 'extensive' menu. With the option of a big breakfast - which included pork and leek sausages from Edwards of Conwy and which you can build yourself from a number of different ingredient options - he decided to dive in and order the meal. To go.
After around five minutes, an impressively short waiting time, the reporter was handed a large pizza style takeaway box which, upon opening, took him aback. As reported by North Wales Live, he said: "When I opened the box, my first thought was that there was a lot more food than I originally expected - tremendous value for money."
For a measly £7.90, he was given a whopping selection of bacon, sausages, mushrooms, fried eggs, bubble and squeak, hash browns and black pudding, as well as a carton of baked beans and tomatoes.
Trying the 'world famous" Edward of Conwy butchers' sausages first, they didn't disappoint, he said, and went "superbly well" with the beans.
He added how the bacon was "absolutely top-notch, with the perfect blend of saltiness and texture - fantastic."
This quality continued through each and every item on the reporter's takeaway platter and for less than £8, he said: "I cannot honestly imagine that you'll get too many better value cafes in the whole of Wales. With summer fast approaching, I would highly recommend a visit to this fantastic cafe, especially given the suntrap seating area at the front."
He continued: "As someone who is an avid fan of a good old-fashioned cooked breakfast, the Good Taste Bistro is right up there with my favourite establishments in North Wales. With its extensive menu and top-quality ingredients, it thoroughly deserves its excellent reputation and five-star rating."
