Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys ahead of work starting on a new cycling roundabout.
The new junction, which will be segregated for cyclists and pedestrians, will be created at the Rake Lane and Billy Mill Lane junction in North Tyneside.
The roundabout, which will be the first of its kind in the North East, is along a busy route that leads to North Tyneside General Hospital.
