The town where fuel prices are way higher and been branded a 'disgrace'

Residents from a town in north Wales have shared their frustration over fuel prices in their local areal, with diesel costing 12p a litre more than some other places nearby. According to North Wales Live, two filling stations in the Denbighshire town of Denbigh, which are Morrisons in the upper part of the town and Texaco on Rhyl Road, are both currently charing £1.72 a litre for diesel while unleaded costs £1.52.

It is a stark contrast to nearby Rhydymwyn Service Station on Denbigh Road, which is currently charging £1.58 for diesel. Five miles away, Applegreen Service Station near the A55 in St Asaph is charging 5p a litre less than its Denbigh counterparts.

As a result, many residents of Denbigh have complained about the situation, with several saying they regularly travel away from the town to fill up. One local councillor called the price of fuel in Denbigh "a disgrace".

Mark Young, a councillor for the Lower Denbigh ward, said: "We know that the price for wholesale diesel has fallen to a 15-month low but isn't always passed on at the pump and the unwillingness of retailers to pass on savings is a national disgrace.

"These major companies are making healthy profits, especially fuel and food suppliers who have made record returns recently. They have an opportunity now to show that they are on the side of their struggling customers and the fact they haven’t isn’t only shocking but I don’t know how the bosses can sleep at night."

On the Facebook page Town Talk: Denbigh News and Views, Jenny Hoyle said: "Rhydymwyn Service Station is consistently over 12p cheaper than Denbigh. It was £1.58 a litre last week for diesel."

Stella Brookes said: "I put in 50 litres in Llandudno last week, saving £7.50 on Denbigh prices, a huge saving. I avoid filling up in town and just tie it in with working out of town."

David Ruane said: "Most places in Ynys Mon (Anglesey) are £1.56 for diesel, that's most of the island selling at that price." North Wales Live have approached Texaco and Morrisons for comment.
