When you think of the Christmas Market in Leeds, many will think of the sadly cancelled German Market, but there are plenty more close to the city for you to still get into the festive mood.
One of the best of these is the Otley Victorian Fayre. Located on the main street of the market town of Otley, there's plenty to do at this fayre.
Many people get dressed up in old-fashioned Victorian clothing, particularly the shopkeepers. Many local schools also participate with many of the children dressing up in old fashioned outfits to sing Christmas carols.

It all adds to a great old-time feel to the whole event, particularly when surrounded by Otley's old Victorian buildings and courtyards. Stalls are also set up to sell Christmas gifts and treats with plenty to go around.
There is also a stage which opens at around midday where there will be plenty of performances including everyone's favourites, Punch and Judy. A parade takes place in the afternoon where Leeds Pipe Band will perform. The local shops also get involved with beautiful Christmas decorations.
Fairground rides are also set up so there is plenty for kids to do. So if you are looking for something a little different from a city market, Otley is perfect for you.
If you want to visit, the whole event runs over the course of a single day, Sunday December 4. This means you can see everything in one trip. The event runs from midday until 6pm and is free to enter.
