Newcastle University has been named as the best in the UK and eighth in the world for sustainable development by The Times.
It marks further progress for the university which was previously listed as third in the UK and fifteenth in the world in 2021. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022 announced the result after recognising the university's ongoing work towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess over 1,500 universities from around the world on action taken towards the UNSDGs. Institutions are evaluated across the areas of research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.
