James Corden has revealed the secrets behind his incredible body transformation where he lost an impressive six stone.
The Late Late Show star, who gained popularity as the loveable character Smithy on the hit sitcom Gavin and Stacey and at his heaviest weighed 21-stone, told The Sun in a recent interview just how he did it.
While his success has enabled him luxuries, such as a personal trainer, his methods aren't far fetched or in the realm of 'crash' or 'fad' dieting and treats are still allowed.
“I don’t eat until 12,” he told The Sun. “I have a trainer who I box with most mornings, and so far today I’ve had an apple. I try to eat healthily and not deprive myself."
James, 43, recently became an ambassador for WW, formerly Weight Watchers, and agrees with their approach of not cutting things out, but being more aware of what you’re putting into your body.
“The notion of going on a diet is everything that is wrong because at some point you are going to revert," he added. "It’s like Dry January — it’s brilliant if you give up booze for January but in the back of your mind you’re like, ‘Well, in February I’m going to have a drink’."
Changes to his diet and a regular exercise regime aren’t the only things the comedian and actor is doing to improve his health. He has taken up meditation after attending a four-day transcendental meditation course, which, he says, enables you to “settle the body down to a state of restul alertness”.
"You do a course, then at the end of it you have these tools where, every day, you give yourself 20 minutes of silence to let your thoughts be whatever they are, and I’ve found that very, very beneficial. Normally if I have a spare 20 minutes, I’ll be on my phone, I’ll be watching something, and that’s it — now I do this. It’s great," he said to the publication.
It comes as the star announced at the end of April he would be quitting The Late Late Show after seven years to move back to the UK with his three children, Max, Carey and Charlotte and his wife Julia Carey.
Revealing the news, James said that he would stay until next spring, although his contract is due to end in August.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, James explained that he wanted to leave the job on a high. He said: "I just sort of felt like maybe we'd done enough? Maybe we'd done everything we wanted to do.
"When I took the job - firstly, I didn't think we'd be on the air, like, six months later. Then as soon as it seemed like we'd be on for a little while, I was very very determined that the show wouldn't overstay its welcome in any way and that we would always know when to leave.
"That we'd always know when to go out on top because I think that's really important."
