The three things about Ryan Tubridy every child wants to know

Ryan Tubridy was recently asked some hard-hitting questions during a school visit in Dublin.

The Dubliner was visiting St Finian’s School in Finglas recently when he had what he described as a "raucous press conference with fun-sized humans". Ryan said: "[The kids] really wanted to know a few things. Three questions were asked pretty much in every class by every pupil."

Speaking on The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE Radio One, Ryan revealed the questions were "One, what age are you? Two, why are you coming to us in this school? Three, do you like Fanta?" (We wonder if the third question was in reference to the time Ryan accidentally swore on the Late Late Toy Show after a large bottle of Fanta exploded all over him.)

Ryan said the reaction to his visit was "heartening and magical". He said: "I’m just looking through the window in the class and jaws dropped, eyeballs were out on stalks, mouths were grabbed, and then I went."

He said he was blown away by the kindness and generosity of the school teachers and the pupils. He said: "It was my favourite ever school visit despite the brevity of it because I was just so taken aback by what I saw there by way of teachers, pupils, spirit (indomitable), effort, kindness, thoughtfulness, decency, and diligence.

"It was the best side of school teaching I have seen since I’ve started going to schools 20 years ago on this programme and other programmes." Ryan is set to bring laughter and joy to thousands of families across the world on The Late Late Toy Show this Friday.

But the host warned he will be keeping in mind the cost-of-living crisis many families are facing this Christmas. He said: “We were going to go a little more heavy.

"Not heavy but grown up. Then a few weeks ago, I said, ‘Hang on, why are we going grown-up?’ So now I’m going to be more of a goofball character... but of course, I can’t say who."
