The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe viewers were left stunned after they saw two familiar faces playing detectives on the show.
The ITV drama is based on the true story of John Darwin who faked his own death in 2002.
In scenes from the gripping drama, which concluded on Wednesday, John and Anne Darwin were interrogated by police about their dishonest plot. Detectives questioned the couple and tried to work out how the couple had planned John's disappearance, and whether Anne had known about the plot the entire time.
In the interrogation, Anne denied having any knowledge initially that her husband had faked his death while John was shown suggesting he had no clue about Anne collecting the money from his life insurance policy. However during these scenes, fans were quick to recognise two familiar faces, the Mirror reports.

The detectives grilling both Anne and John were none other than Coronation Street and The Bill actor Andrew Lancel, and comedian and actor Karl Pilkington. On Twitter, viewers were quick to point this out, with many calling for the duo to pair up in a reboot of ITV police drama The Bill.
One viewer said: "I recognise the interviewing officer as being in the Bill. Not Karl Pilkington. The other one." Another tweeted: "This is just reminding me I still miss The Bill and why wasn't @AndrewLancel character just called Neil Manson? I mean, he'll always be Manson... maybe Chief Constable now though...."
A third added: "Omg did anyone else spot DCI Neil Manson interviewing John Darwin? Or am I just a die hard fan of The Bill?" The comments kept on coming, with another tweet reading: "No way, The Bill and Karl Pilkington are in it, and was Karl trying not to laugh?!"
A fifth viewer tweeted: "CID scene thoughts: seeing Andrew Lancel sat back on a chair gave me strong flashbacks to The Bill… then ‘is that Karl Pilkington!’"
