Millions of Freeview users will have their channel list cut short today as a broadcasting signal is switched off for good.
Ten channels will be slashed from the network in a signal swapper, and those who use Freeview often are urged to retune their televisions in order to save some of the channels, reports the Mirror. The broadcast signal, named COM7 Multiplex, is being closed down in order to make way for brand new 5G mobile technology by EE.

This results in a much smaller bandwidth for Freeview users, and the company has been forced to make changes that align with the newest technology. Users have been warned that they must retune their TVs and set-top boxes by the end of play today, or risk losing a whole host of popular channels.
BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD and Together TV will be among those channels you can still save, and are even getting increased coverage, but action needs to be taken immediately. Freeview are recommending that everyone runs a system update, in order to switch their signals over to the newest version.
A Freeview spokesman said: “Since the decision by Ofcom to make more airwaves available for mobile data, the Ofcom licence for some channels broadcasting on Freeview has expired.
"This means that affected channels are making changes to the way they are broadcast moving forward."
On the system update, they said: "Channels will be making changes to the way they are broadcast on 29th June 2022. You will need to retune your TV to continue watching these channels."
And the BBC added: "As a consequence of the closure of COM7, BBC News on Freeview will be available only in SD from the end of June 2022. However, you can still watch it in HD on BBC iPlayer."
The channels affected by the switch-over and will cease to exist on Freeview include:
- Freesports 65
- CBS Justice 69
- More4+1 86
- PBS America+1 87
- Forces TV 96
- BBC News HD 107
- QVC HD 111
- QVC Beauty HD 112
- Quest HD 114
- Craft Extra 95
Other chances also include 4Music rebranding to E4 Extra, Horror rebranding to Legend, That's Music rebranding to Classic Hits and increasing it's coverage, and CBS Drama rebranding to Reality Xtra and getting a reduction in coverage. Now 80's will also face a reduction in coverage, and will be available to customers in Manchester only.
