Rangers legend Barry Ferguson reckons Scott Brown looked frustrated long before his call to tear up his Aberdeen contract.
And he isn't surprised to see the former Celtic captain's departure from Pittodrie this week.
Less than a year into his two-year player-coach deal in the Granite City - inked as part of Stephen Glass' short-lived revolution - Brown has left the Dons and questions abound over his next steps.
As Record Sport told you on Wednesday afternoon he is being lined up by Brendan Rodgers to reunite with the Treble-winning gaffer at Leicester in his coaching ranks.
Ferguson is keeping an eye out as he told Go Radio: "To be honest, I wasn't surprised.
"Stephen Glass brought him to the club and it has been well-documented they've got a close friendship – that was one of the reasons Scott went up to Aberdeen.
"It was just a matter of time for me, when Stephen Glass got sacked, was he going to stay there until the end of the season and pick up his money or was he going to go straight away?
"I think he's made the right decision. He's been faithful to Stephen Glass, the man who brought him there. And now what does Scott Brown do?
"Does he continue to play or coach at a different club? Who know. Only Scott Brown can tell us.
"But I'm not surprised, Jim Goodwin made it clear he won't have a lot to so with the coaching side, Jim is very hands-on as he made clear, and he's got his second hand man up there to do the coaching.
"So I wasn't surprised when the news broke."
Ferguson reckons he spotted the warning signs early on as Brown struggled to adjust to his new surroundings.
He added: "See when he made that move, you're playing at Celtic with quality players. No disrespect, Aberdeen have a lot of good players.
"But I thought when he made that move, he was starting to get frustrated.
"I saw in some of the games where, if he was on the ball, the Celtic players he played with would make angles. The Aberdeen players weren't exactly doing the same.
"I thought he would have found that hard and I wasn't surprised to see that he's decided to rip his contract up."
