The stylish city centre hotel where I was handed a cocktail upon arrival - with rooms under £90

I spent a night at a stylish hotel in Manchester city centre with affordable rooms for under £90 - and was even handed a cocktail upon arrival.

Moxy Manchester City, on Atkinson Street, is owned by Marriott and first opened its doors in 2021. It is slap bang in the city centre, offering simplistic but premium feel rooms at convenience for guests.

And as part of the exclusive Marriott Bonvoy Moments, I also enjoyed VIP access to The Pink Picnic, Salford’s annual LGBTQ+ pride celebration last month, which offered an array of live acts providing hours of entertainment on the main stage.

Drag queens brought the fun and the colour as I sat beneath a VIP canopy with food and drinks on offer before Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle wowed crowds with their much loved hits such as the Sound of The Underground.

And at the end of a day of dancing, singing and partying, I was able to check into the Moxy Manchester City hotel, beside Deansgate in the heart of Manchester city centre where I was greeted with a delicious, but boozy, iced tea cocktail.

The rooms are spotless, spacious and bright, with a king sized bed, perfect for slipping into a deep slumber after a jam packed day of partying. I was greeted at the front desk, which is also a bar open for 24 hours, was checked in quickly and to my delight, was even handed a cocktail.

There are eight floors at the Moxy with a total of 146 rooms. I was given one of the large corner family rooms, boasting a large bed and a equally as big sofa bed. The decor is Brooklyn-esc, stylish yet simplistic - with an open wire mesh wardrobe and flat screen smart TV.

The location of the hotel is beside Spinningfields, home to a plethora of restaurants and shops and still just a short and convenient stroll to Deansgate, Piccadilly, the Arndale centre or Market Street. And with a check out time as late as 12pm at the end of the stay, I certainly didn't experience that usual rush to pack up and leave at the crack of dawn.

My experience, which included VIP tickets and overnight stay in the hotel, complete with breakfast, is an example of one of the Marriott Bonvoy moments offered exclusively for members. Loyalty points can be collected to gain VIP access to concerts, culinary experiences and premier sporting events.

Throughout the summer, there's a series of Moments celebrating pride across Europe in Manchester, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Rome, giving guests the opportunity to take part in parades and parties celebrating LGBTQ+ culture.

Members can redeem their points for either fixed-price experiences or use them to bid on experiences, such as the Pride Moments, through auctions using the Marriott Bonvoy Moments platform. Find out more here.
