If you head to the East Neuk of Fife, you'll come across a beautiful village overlooking the Firth of Forth that's just been named one of the UK's 'poshest'. Elie is one of Scotland's most scenic places with its beautiful golden sand beaches and panoramic seaside views.
Luxury British estate agent Savills has named it among the most desirable villages to live in across England, Wales and Scotland, and it's easy to see why.
Savills analyst Frances Clacy said: “People want villages that have a bit of everything, from schools to stunning countryside, with accessibility to cities and transport infrastructure.
"Less well-trumpeted factors count too, such as the main road through the village should only lead to other villages."
Sharing the research with the Telegraph, their writers described this seaside gem, stating: "This sheltered inlet started out as a harbour village in the 16th century. It was the Victorians who built large detached properties and turned it into a tourist resort.
"There are five beaches with plenty of watersports on offer, a tennis club and an abundance of restaurants, including the Ship Inn and the 19th Hole at Earlsferry, and the Michelin-starred Peat Inn is a short drive away. There’s the treasured Ardross Farm Shop and the Wade Gallery, too, along with a primary school."
The village is also home to its own cricket team, with people regularly gathering in the beer garden at the ever popular Ship Inn to watch the Inn's team play. Running from May to September with dates of matches dependent on the tide, they play against a combination of regular opposition from Scotland and touring teams from all over the world.
Reportedly, any non-playing spectator who catches a six in the beer garden wins their height in beer.
There is also the Harbour Café, which is run by husband-and-wife team Amy and Jack Elles source local heritage breed beef and lamb from nearby Balcaskie Estate, prepared by the Butchery at Bowhouse, alongside organic fresh produce from East Neuk Market Garden to make their incredible dishes.
It's also just a pleasant walk away from the East Neuk's other famous towns and villages including Anstruther, Crail and Pittenweem.
