When the sun is shining and the mercury rises, nothing beats a trip to the beach.
Fortunately, Scotland is home to countless scenic bays that are well worth a visit whether you're keen for a fun trip with family and friends or a quiet day out by yourself.
While you can't really go wrong with any beach around the country, some in particular are truly breathtaking. There are some that might even make you forget that you're in Scotland for a little while.
A few of these beaches are collectively known as the Silver Sands of Morar, found along the coast from Arisaig to Morar. The series of renowned beaches are famous for their white sands and beautiful turquoise waters.
In fact, they even rival the Mediterranean and the Caribbean in terms of atmosphere and views. If an expensive holiday abroad isn't on the cards this year, they are certainly the next best thing.
Looking out across the water on a clear day, you will be treated to spectacular views of the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck, and Canna.
Among the unspoilt rock-framed sandy beaches, Camusdarach is perhaps the most popular. A top spot for swimming, rock pooling, and walking, it is a great shout whether you're headed there with others or alone.
Another key feature of the beaches is that they are all accessible from the road. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can even visit them all as a trail.
If you're near the the Silver Sands of Morar, you're also in a great position to see other stunning sights in the area. Loch Morar is one of the most beautiful spots in the country, and if you're a Harry Potter fan you may even recognise it from the films.
If you wish to visit the Silver Sands of Morar yourself this summer, make sure you pack a coat. While the beaches may look Caribbean, the weather will likely soon remind you that you are still very much in Scotland.
