Located just outside of the M60 in Salford, RHS Garden Bridgewater is a green haven where you’ll find beautifully-designed gardens, woodland walks and lakeside views. The 154-acre garden, developed at the site of the former Worsley New Hall, opened to the public in 2021.
In one of the largest horticultural projects undertaken in Europe in recent years, the derelict Victorian garden was transformed over the course of four years and today features several green spaces visitors can explore. There’s the Weston Walled Garden, one of the largest in the UK; the Chinese Streamside Garden and the Paradise Garden, to name but a few.
There are wilder and less formal areas to have a wander around too, including Middle Wood and Ellesmere Lake. The garden is suitable for all ages so if you’re looking for somewhere to visit during the final days of October half term, RHS Bridgewater is the place to go.

Throughout the half term week the garden has been hosting kid-friendly activities with a spooky Halloween theme and there’s still time to check them out. Until Sunday visitors can follow a trail which looks at the garden's deadliest plants, creepy crawlies and clever plants which fight back, guaranteed to leave kids inspired and intrigued.
On Saturday The FUNgi Guy is holding mushroom walks in Middlewood, where you can learn all about amazing fungi and discover some cool mushrooms. Over the weekend there are enchanting storytelling walks which look at faerie folklore - remember to keep your eyes peeled for any faerie sightings.
Also on Saturday is a Rangoli art and craft workshop, an ancient art which is hundreds of years old and was created at Diwali time to welcome guests and the goddess of wealth into our people’s homes. For more information on the events and how to book, visit the RHS website.
