The stumbling block in Arsenal's Declan Rice transfer move and it's not Man United or Chelsea

Arsenal will have to pull out all the stops possible if they are to sign West Ham star Declan Rice. The England international is destined for a big-money move away from the Hammers this summer.

football.london understands the 24-year-old is Mikel Arteta's priority transfer target after impressing for club and country. Rice has previously gone on record to admit his desire to play in the Champions League, something the Gunners can offer after their superb 2022/23 season.

West Ham still have the chance to win their first European title, but Rice's future is expected to become clearer once the season concludes. Arsenal aren't alone in their pursuit of the box-to-box midfielder, with Chelsea and Manchester United also monitoring his situation.

According to The Telegraph, sporting director Edu Gaspar and Arteta are structuring a deal worth £92million to bring Rice to the Emirates Stadium. Should a deal of that value be completed, he will become Arsenal's record signing.

A host of players are expected to be sold during the summer - including Granit Xhaka and Folarin Balogun - in a bid to raise the funds for the Rice deal. However, it appears the Gunners may face a major problem in negotiations with West Ham.

The report has claimed the Hammers will want as much of the transfer fee paid up front as possible, which could cost the majority of Arsenal's transfer kitty. However, it's likely the Gunners would prefer the fee to be spread out in instalments.
