Fashion royalty Kate Moss paid her respects to Her Majesty The Queen in the most fabulous way possible at yesterday’s Platinum Jubilee pageant.
While partying atop a Nineties-themed double-decker bus, which was part of a host of “decade” buses celebrating each 10-year period of the Queen’s reign, the supermodel wore an on-theme vintage Union Jack blazer.
In keeping with the royal family’s love of outfit repetition (the Duchess of Cambridge rewore her chic red wool-crepe Eponine dress on Saturday during a visit to Cardiff Castle), Moss originally wore the jacket on the Paris runway for John Galliano’s spring 1993 collection.
To make the outfit choice even more impressively on-brand, this collection was a tribute to British fashion history and naval valour and featured a host of bustiers, bustles, military jackets and hairstyles inspired by tricorn hats.
The British fashion designer, who has also been the head designer at Givenchy and Christian Dior, was known for gifting his models with clothing from his own collections, which is probably how this rare archival piece ended up at the back of Moss’ closet. The agency owner rocked it with a black silk slip dress with a pair of stunning red Vivienne Westwood stilettos, and accessorised it with layers of her signature boho necklaces.
Before her happily chaotic bus antics, Moss was seen attending the event with her good pal Charlotte Tilbury. The makeup mogul hosted a party at Claridge’s before the procession to Buckingham Palace kicked off, which the star attended with her illustrious BFF Naomi Campbell and Bridgerton actress Phoebe Dynevor.
The 90s It-girl’s rock ‘n’ roll past has been resurfaced in popular culture recently. Two weeks ago photos of her era-defining relationship with Johnny Depp went viral on social media after her chic Zoom appearance at his defamation trial against Amber Heard. And despite the notoriously private supermodel choosing a life of peace and quiet in the countryside these days, it’s good to see more iconic content from our fashion Queen grace our feeds.
