During the pandemic 30 mums from under-represented families came together to discuss their difficulties - from getting a SEND diagnosis to accessing housing to experiencing isolation. Their voices have now been amplified across Bristol in a billboard and poster campaign, which is currently visible in 21 locations across the city.
They called the campaign “We shouldn’t Have To Shout To Be Heard”, because parents in the group felt they had to fight for everything. The billboard and poster campaign aims to give a voice to parents disproportionally affected by the pandemic and now the cost of living crisis.
Sharon Evans, who participated in the project, spoke about her struggle to get a SEND diagnosis for her son. She said: “My son has autism and we first went to CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) at age five but he wasn't fully diagnosed until age 10.
