
The cost-of-living crisis is not taking a summer break. Prices are continuing to rise at their fastest rate for 40 years as inflation hit 9.4 per cent in May, driven by fuel and food costs.
Yet the pain is set to grow sharper, as the Bank of England warns inflation may climb to 11 per cent in the autumn when October’s rise in the energy price cap comes into effect, sending bills to a staggering £3,200 a year.
