The Sopranos actor Michael Imperioli looks unrecognisable 15 years after Christopher role

Fans of The Sopranos would be forgiven for not recognising actor Michael Imperioli in his latest Instagram post.

The 56-year-old actor looks worlds away from his role as Christopher Moltisanti in the hit TV series, which came to an end in 2007.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the father-of-three shared a snap of himself promoting merchandise for his band Zopa.

Addressing his 189k followers, Michael wrote: "ZOPA MERCH is restocked and available NOW. Get yours through LINK IN MY BIO.

"Proceeds go towards helping the people of UKRAINE during these terrible and tragic days.

"Thank you to all who have already purchased. Send me photos of you wearing the shirts for future IG posts! @razom.for.ukraine.

"Shirt design by the great ANDY CARTER: @primieval and made by @funhouse_screenprinting," he added.

In the snap, Michael is sporting a full head of grey hair and a pair of sunglasses and a brown beaded necklace as he pulls a serious face for the camera.

His fans were quick to comment on the post, with one person writing: "Gorgeous Michael many thanks."

Another person said: "Damn Michael is getting older and prettier," while a third added: "Damn you looking gooooood."

During The Sopranos eight-year run, Michael played Tony's distantly-related cousin and protege who rose up the ranks during the series.

Tony was a father figure to Christopher, who was volatile, impulsive and would often be left frustrated by his lack of notoriety.

Christopher struggled with major drug and alcohol addictions and his violent relationship with long-term girlfriend Adriana La Cerva, who he was supposed to marry but grassed her up to Tony when she confessed to being a mole.

He was supposed to be Tony's successor but after causing a car crash while driving him home, the mob boss decided he wasn't suitable and suffocated his injured nephew.

Michael, who had already appeared in the gangster film Goodfellas, earned a Primetime Emmy for his portrayal in 2004.

He went on to play Detective Ray Carling in the US adaptation of BBC police drama Life On Mars and followed fellow Sopranos cast members into the Law & Order series.
