If you've ever wondered if there was a way for you to get money off your regular coffee order, then this one is for you.
Let's face it, funding your daily caffeine fix can be somewhat pricey over time. That's why it will come as welcome news that one money saving expert has shared a simple shopping tip to get some money off your next order.
In recent weekly edition of the Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert Newsletter, Rhiannon Moorhouse explains how coffee fans can get up to 50p on every single one of their favourite orders.
The MSE's savvy hack is involves simply purchasing or bringing in your own reusable cup the next time you are in need of your next coffee fix.
Of course, Starbucks fans will know that the coffee giant has their own reusable cups for sale in-store for £1, but if you have one lying around the house, then it would save you the pennies.
She writes: "You can use any brand of reusable cup in any of the stores. The cheapest and easiest way is to buy a £1 reusable plastic cup at Starbucks, marked with a line for its 350ml size (known as ‘Tall’ at Starbucks).
We’ve taken the Starbucks cup into other stores and it worked fine – though expect a bit of banter with the barista…"
The MSE says that the clever tip works in many multiple coffee stores and chains across the country, including Costa, Cafe Nero, Greggs and M&S cafe's.
Most of the time, shoppers can get anywhere between 20p - 50p off on any hot or cold drink. It might not see like a huge discount, but if you're a fan of grabbing a coffee while you're in town or meeting up with friends, then those extra pennies be a huge saving.
Where does the tip work?
- Pret A Manger - 50p off. All Pret stores across the country offer the discount to anyone bringing their own reusable cup. The discount includes filter coffee, making it £1 a cup as drinks prices have increased in 2022.
- Starbucks - 20p off. Shoppers can get the discount on any hot or cold drink purchased in Starbucks cafe's, including those in train stations and cinemas.
- M&S cafe's - 25p off. If you bring your own cup to an M&S café you'll get 25p off any takeaway hot drink - but not if you're sitting in.
- Greggs - 20p off. If you bring your own cup, you’ll get 20p off any hot drink. Greggs also sells its own branded cups for £2, and you’ll get a free hot drink in it when you buy one.
- Cafe Nero - double stamps. Not exactly money off, but bringing in your own reusable cup can get you twice the amount of points on your loyalty card. Normally you’d have to buy nine drinks to get the 10th free, but with this offer you’d only have to buy five.
- Costa Coffee - extra bean stamp. Costa Club loyalty members can get an extra bean stamp towards a free drink, which you can get after eight stamps.
