A Scottish venue has been named one of the best rooftop bars in the world – ranking among entries from the likes of Melbourne, Bangkok, Barcelona and San Diego. Glasgow's Red Sky Bar, which is found at the top of the Radisson Red in the Finnieston area of the city, was picked out in the top 50 alongside some of the very best bars from around the globe.
In a study by Mandoemedia.com, 200 of the world’s rooftop bars were ranked on a number of factors including customer experience, price and social media shares in order to track down the best place to grab a drink with a view.
Bangkok’s AkaAza Bar came out top on the list for its pool bar and panoramic views of the city’s skyline, while The Rooftop at Serras in Barcelona and Terraz at the Principal in Madrid rounded out the top three.
Scotland's only entry in the top 50, the Red Sky Bar, placed in 47th, joining the likes of Manchester's 20 Stories, which came 5th, and London's Madison, and Roof East, in representing the UK.
Scotland's only other entries in the top 200 worldwide, were Harvey Nichols Forth Floor in 84th and the Sky Bar (156th) in Edinburgh.
The Red Sky Bar, which boasts incredible panoramic views over the River Clyde, Squinty Bridge and Finnieston Crane, was praised for its customer experience rating and its value with an average price of a bottle of wine just £27.95.
Open to anyone (not just guests of the hotel), its location looking out over the River Clyde is also close to the Hydro making it ideal for gig-goers, while the trendy Finniston area, famed for its eateries and bars is just a short walk away.
