A Scottish beach that is "stolen from a fairytale" has been named one of the best dog-friendly beaches in the UK.
With the year coming to a close and 2023 just around the corner, one sure-fire way to beat the January blues is by going on an invigorating beach walk.
For those with dogs, taking them along can make the experience even more enjoyable. To help dog owners find the perfect beach to take their pooch, holiday lettings company Canine Cottages has collated the six best dog-friendly beaches in the UK.
At number two, and the only Scottish beach to make the list, is Luskentyre on the Isle of Harris. The beach is located on the west coast of South Harris, and is among the biggest and most breathtaking beaches on the island.
With its expansive stretches of white sand, Luskentyre is a perfect spot to take your four-legged friend. They will love running up and down the coast while you take in the mesmerising sea views.
Commenting on the beach, Canine Cottages said: "Fancy walking on a beach stolen from a fairy-tale? With its exciting wildlife and beautiful scenery, it’s no wonder Luskentyre is one of the best beaches in the UK.
"If you're lucky, you and your pooch could even witness golden eagles pass right above your heads! The beach offers a relaxed atmosphere and a sense of calm away from the madding crowd – it's the perfect place to visit to let your dog roam free and spend a moment admiring the beauty Scotland has to offer."
Coming in at number one on the list is Rhossili Bay Beach in Swansea, which according to Canine Cottages has been named the 'supermodel of British beaches'.
The award-winning beach has over three miles of beautiful coastline at the western end of the beautiful Gower peninsula.
