'The same page' - Liverpool given blunt answer to Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah swap question

Ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has claimed he would not swap Mohamed Salah for Kylian Mbappe amid speculation the PSG forward could be on the move in January or next summer.

Mbappe only signed a new three-year deal with the Ligue 1 leaders in May but is once again being linked with a transfer exit due to reportedly being dissatisfied with the club's business and not being utilised in his preferred position of the left wing.

Marca this week suggested the relationship between Mbappe and PSG is 'completely broken' and given their refusal to let their star man join Madrid, they state a move to Liverpool 'could be the only option' for the France international.

PSG would likely receive a world-record fee for their prized asset should they decide to cash in on the attacker, a battle it is hard to imagine the Reds getting involved in. Some have suggested Liverpool could swap Salah in exchange for Mbappe, despite the former committing his future to the club in July.

Offering his take regarding what he would do if this scenario were to arise, Heskey said: "Would I swap Kylian Mbappe for Mo Salah? That's a tough question! Anyone would find it hard to turn down someone like Kylian Mbappe, but if you've just signed a new contract and you are already kicking up a fuss to move away, why wouldn't you do it again if things aren't going right at your next club?

"That's the only issue I have with the way that some players leave a club. What does it say about you when you've only just signed a new deal but now you want to go and as a manager you ask, 'do I want to bring that into this environment?'

"At big clubs, yes, you are going to have 'stars' at the club but everyone should be on the same page really. I don't believe Jurgen Klopp would be willing to treat a player different to any other person in his squad," he told Gambling.com.

"Mbappe is a class player and he'd walk into anyone's starting eleven, but then you have all these issues that come with him. So would I do a like-for-like swap with Mo Salah for Mbappe? Probably not. Mbappe is a younger version of Salah and he is very exciting, but I would rather keep Salah."
