The safest areas of Nottinghamshire have been revealed following the recent publication of national crime data. Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) demonstrate the total number of crimes across six areas in the county.
In the year ending September 2022, a total of 103,599 crimes were committed across Nottinghamshire excluding fraud. Of those, 36,061 involved violence against the victim.
Crimes recorded include 3,615 sexual offences, 1,040 robberies, 6,210 vehicle offences and 14 homicides. South Nottinghamshire proved to be the safest area in terms of crime during that period.

The number of crimes* per 1,000 stood at 52. This is a stark contrast to Nottingham, which saw 123 crimes committed for every 1,000th person.
Elsewhere, Newark and Sherwood also ranked as one the safest places, with 8,662 crimes being recorded* out of a population of 123,100. The second highest crime rate was in the Mansfield area - population 109,400 - which saw 11,251 crimes be committed.
