The Royal Mint shares first coins of 2023 featuring King Charles III

Royal Mint United Kingdom King Charles III

The Royal Mint has today revealed the first commemorative coins for 2023 to bear His Majesty The King’s official picture.

All new coins from January, 1 2023 will now feature King Charles III portrait with the public seeing his portrait for the first time on a £2 coin. The launch of the new coins will also mark the first chance for collectors to own a 2023 dated set featuring the new monarch's portrait.

The Royal Mint unveiled His Majesty’s portrait in September 2022, as part of Queen Elizabeth II memorial coin range. The unveiling of this collection of coins symbolises one of the biggest changes to UK coins since decimalisation.
