The Rolling Stones' 60-year career honoured with Royal Mail stamp collection - and it's on sale today

Few bands have made their mark in British rock history quite like the Rolling Stones.

And to celebrate their 60 year anniversary, Royal Mail have launched a range of exclusive special stamps and memorabilia - which went on sale today.

The Rolling Stones are only the fourth group to be honoured by Royal Mail, with them having created musical-themed stamps and collectables for The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Queen in previous years.

The limited edition collectibles capture ‘The Greatest Rock and Roll Band’, celebrating six decades of iconic music and performances.

The 12 stamps depict some of the band's most notable performances, from London’s Hyde Park in 1969, to Tokyo, Japan, in 1995.

Other stamps feature promotional posters and shots of the band, presented in a miniature sheet.

The cheapest keepsake is a first day envelope, priced at 30p and featuring The Rolling Stones logo on the front.

At the other end of the scale is a gold stamp set for £149.99 - a special edition version of the Rolling Stones stamp set plated in pure 24 carat gold.

The embossed set is strictly limited to only 1,962 sets - so perfect for superfans of the 60s band.

One of the most popular products will be the The Rolling Stones Presentation Pack - a double-sided souvenir containing all 12 Rolling Stones special stamps.

It includes a fact-packed biography written by journalist Alexis Petridis and photographs from the band’s glittering timeline, setting fans back £16.20.

Or for just under £20, there’s The Rolling Stones Licks Tour medal cover, which includes a silver-plated medal, colourfully printed with the iconic lips and tongue motif used on The Rolling Stones’ Forty Licks album and tour memorabilia in 2002-03.

It stars The Rolling Stones Miniature Sheet and a postmark issued specifically for this souvenir.

The carrier card includes further detail about the Licks Tour and features photographs of the band in action, but it’s limited to 10,000 individually numbered examples, so music lovers will have to be quick.
