The rickety river walkway at a Welsh beauty spot that hardly anyone knows about

A video shared on TikTok has showcased the outstanding hidden beauty that few people know about and want to remain a hidden gem away from social media.

'Fisherman's Walk' is located in the Lledr Gorge in Snowdonia, a dangerous ladder route which has become a regular trend on the video social media platform.

The "secret" jewel has been met with reluctance as of late as concern grew from locals that the bridge may become damaged as it is flocked by visitors hoping to enjoy new experiences.

The precarious structure is made from wooden boards placed on top leading the path around the rockface to Craig Rhiw Goch, a popular climbing venue.

The stability of the structure has been brought under question after the rise in popularity over lockdown with the ladders now hanging together by clamps.

Notices stuck alongside trees leading up to the path read warnings advising people that the route is not for the faint hearted, it says “Warning. Dangerous structure. The owner accepts no liability for any loss, damage or injury, however caused.”

The only lasting safety precaution is a rope handle running alongside the path on the cliffside with one wrong step causing even the most experienced hikers to end up in the river below.

The exact location of the path is difficult to find on social media in an attempt to limit the amount of visitors jeopardising the outstanding beauty spot and locals have often stressed it should remain that way.

However, the video which has become a trending feature on the social media platform has been viewed 2.7 million times with over 180,000 liking the popular video.

Commentators on the video have advised against sharing the footage arguing it should remain hidden and "this is how gems are destroyed".

Others also commented that the entrance to the path had also been previously closed due to significant damage from an increasing visitor presence.

The National Trust owns the surrounding land around the walkway but does not manage or maintain it but had strong warnings for anyone looking to visit the site, as reports North Wales Live.

A spokesperson said: "There is no access to the gorge across National Trust land,.

"There are no public rights of way or permissive paths here, therefore people will not be able to access this location."

Snowdonia’s geological legacy and rich industrial heritage, means the national park has hundreds of off-the-beaten-path gems, from tunnels to bridges, stone circles and even “Narnia doors”.
