Gary Payton II is the do-it-all defensive guard for the Warriors. He’s really a swiss army knife.
The dude can guard the opposing team’s best player, switch out onto a big, hold his own in the paint and grab a rebound and push the break. He’s also pretty good at hitting open jumpers as well.
That’s why it was so devastating when Dillon Brooks’ play knocked him out of the Warriors lineup. This is even a dude LeBron James wanted on his team. He’s that good defensively.
That totally makes sense because, of course, he’s Gary Payton’s son.
There is a common mistake people make when it comes to that, though. Folks will call him Gary Payton Jr. and not Gary Payton II. There’s a distinct difference there because, well, those are two different people.
