New York Fashion Week doesn't officially start until the CFDA's calendar kicks in, but for a lot of the industry, the real opening bell rang a day early — with Ralph Lauren, a Tribeca gallery, and his now-signature curtain call.
A Six-Second Clip That Says It All
The scene: Jack Shainman Gallery in Tribeca, September 9. After his Spring 2027 presentation wrapped, Lauren stepped out from a white doorway to greet the room — navy-and-white "NEW YORK" varsity jacket with a Yankees-style NY logo, white pants, sunglasses on — and waved to a standing ovation. New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman posted a roughly six-second clip of the moment, captioning it simply: "Gotta love the Ralph Lauren post-show wave."
