Fortnite has released its second batch of Resident Evil crossover skins, but the Raccoon City Survivors Bundle leaves much to be desired.
We heard rumours of another Resident Evil crossover coming to Fortnite back at the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 last week. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long, as today’s item shop has brought us the Raccoon City Survivors Bundle; just in time for our review of the excellent Resident Evil 4 remake!
This isn't the first time Fortnite and Resident Evil have crossed paths, Resident Evil 1 duo Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine both joined the game back in 2021 with the S.T.A.R.S. Team Set. So it’s fitting that this new Raccoon City Survivors bundle features the stars of Resident Evil 2: Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
In the bundle, you get Leon S. Kennedy in his Resident Evil 4 late-game appearance and Claire Redfield in her Resident Evil 2 remake appearance. You also get two new pickaxes; Leon’s Combat Knife and the Umbrella Parasol (I guess calling it the Umbrella umbrella would’ve been too confusing). You also get two new Back Blings including the iconic Attaché Case from Resident Evil 4 and the R.P.D. Keys from Resident Evil 2.
These can be purchased as one big bundle at a price of 2,100 V-Bucks, or you can buy Leon with the Attaché Case, Claire and the Keys, and the two pickaxes separately, but doing it that way will set you back 4,000 V-Bucks. In terms of real-life money cost, a pack of 2,800 V-Bucks will cost you £15.99 / $19.99 / AU$30.35.
What Are You Buying?
I hate to say it, but this pack is a huge letdown. When you think of Resident Evil 4 Leon, what pops into your head? The extremely cool jacket, right? Not the bland black T-shirt version from later on in the game. They could even have given us the R.P.D. Uniform Leon from Resident Evil 2 – which this pack is based on. But nope, this pack has no alternate styles. The same goes for Claire, you could’ve at least given her the biker suit from the Original Resident Evil 2 or her Code Veronica style.
The Chris and Jill pack had Chris from Resident Evil 5 and Jill from Resident Evil 1 – arguably their most iconic looks. But it also gave you the option to have Chris in his Resident Evil Village Hound Wolf Squad style and Jill in her Resident Evil 3 appearance. This pack is just a huge step down in comparison.
I know so many people whose favourite Resident Evil character is Leon (not me, Jill for life) so I’m sure I’m not the only one disappointed by this pack. Usually when a new skin from the same series is released the prior packs make a return too. This isn’t the case for the Chris and Jill bundle, but if they do come back soon I know what I’m saving my V-Bucks for.
