Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival is a celebration of creativity in all its forms, from powerful spoken word performances to the most bizarre and surreal magic shows.
With over 3,000 shows to choose from, the festival has something for everyone. For some that’s an adult bubble show, whilst for others it’s a comedian and his “magic beach ball”.
So whether it’s a Bosnian coffee reading you’re after or an adults-only performance from Basil Brush, there’s bound to be something that will float your boat at this year’s Fringe. Here’s our list of six brilliant and bizarre shows hitting Fringe venues this year.

1. Cab-arette Showtour
This is surely the most unusual venue at Edinburgh's Fringe. The Cab-arette Showtour is a one-and-a-half hour moving taxicab cabaret performance that can take five passengers at a time around the city as the driver performs multiple personalities.
The comedy musical tour of Edinburgh is a great option for those visiting the city for Fringe, but can also be enjoyed by the locals too. Prosecco is included in the ticket price, costing £125.00 for a group of five. Book your tour here.
2. King of More: A Divination
The King of More performs a comedic Bosnian coffee reading for the audience, with coffee included - although not mandatory. The interactive performance will see some of the audience have their fortunes told, whilst the King of More uses the ritual to predict the future.
The show is on at the BlundaGardens: BlundaBus on August 27 and 28 at 5.20pm. Tickets are “pay what you can”, and cost £5, £7, or £9 to prebook. The audience can also choose to pay as they wish on exit.
3. Bubble Show for Adults Only
An Australian mix of bubble artistry and neo-burlesque with adult themes. Whatever you’re imagining…you’re probably right. This theatrical show has been sold out for six years at the Perth Fringe in Australia, so book your tickets here if you’d like to witness the “raucous, raunchy affair”.
The show is on at theSpace Triplex for multiple dates. Tickets cost £14, or £12 concession.
4. Elliot Bibby and the Magical Beach Ball
Yes that’s right, it’s an award-winning magician with his beach ball named Barry. This show is all about the “seamless delivery” of mind reading and illusions.
The performance is at The Voodoo Rooms for multiple dates. Tickets cost £15 to book on the official Fringe website.
5. Wrestling With the Champ: Better Red Than Dead
This tongue-in-cheek comedy act sees wrestler “Ginger Ninja” Damien St John and sidekick Ant Mcginley give a rousing speech on his career in the Pub Wrestling Federation. Dubbed “the funniest ride in wrestling”.
Catch the show at the OmniCentre, stage 4, at 4:15pm on August 20 to 28. It is a free non-ticketed event.
6. Basil Brush: Unleashed... And Uncut
Basil Brush returns for the first time since his sold out 2019 Fringe debut with a brand new performance for the adults. If you were a fan in childhood this show is bound to give you the giggles, with a different guest expected each day.
Basil will command a big stage at the Gilded Balloon Teviot theatre across multiple dates. Tickets are available to book here and cost £9.
