Helen of Troy had nothing on Elizabeth II. A thousand ships is a paltry effort compared to the billions of letters, postcards, parcels, birthday greetings and notes of condolence that the face of the Queen, in the form of stamps, has sent on their way over the course of her 70 year reign.
Not to mention the stuff we’ve bought, from penny sweets to slap-up dinners, her image endlessly passing from hand to hand on coins and notes.
