The Proclaimers' most iconic song have been withdrawn from King Charles' Coronation official playlist due to the rock duo's anti-royal views.
Twins Craig and Charlie Reid's hit I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) was initially included in the ceremony's playlist for the historic event next month, which was provided by the UK government.
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will be crowned together at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6 in the historic ceremony which will be conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.
Other artists such as Queen, David Bowie, The Beatles, and Tom Jones also feature in the Coronation compilation, but The Proclaimers' track will no longer be heard after officials learned of their beliefs.
A Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport spokesperson said: "The playlist has been created to celebrate British and Commonwealth artists ahead of the upcoming coronation."
The rock duo recently spoke out in defence of a protestor who was arrested after demonstrating against the monarchy.
Speaking to The National, Charlie said: "The way they've acted you'd think the story was that it's just about people's grief and people respecting her but the real story is that in 2022 an unelected head of state has died.
"Her son, similarly unelected, has taken over and the media has encouraged no debate on that. They’re unquestioning. The way they report that everyone in Britain feels the same way, they don’t. This is just simply untrue.
"On the proclamation of King Charles in Oxford, I think one guy was lifted for shouting 'who elected him?' and I thought that guy spoke for me, and he speaks for loads of other people. Not just in Scotland, but right around the UK."
A special live performance at Windsor Castle has been arranged where Charles and Camilla as well as a huge crowd of 20,000 members of the public and invited guests will be entertained by some of pop's royalty.
Katy Perry, Take That, Lionel Richie, soul pianist Alexis Ffrench and singer Freya Ridings are amongst those to take to the stage.
Katy, regarded as one of the biggest pop stars in the world having produced a string of number-one albums, said she is "excited" to perform at the concert.
'Hello' singer Lionel revealed it was an "honour" to celebrate the coronation. Last week, Paloma Faith reportedly joined the star-studded line-up at Windsor Castle.
The 41-year-old songstress is known for her hits Only Love Can Hurt Like This, Picking Up The Pieces, and Never Tear Us Apart.
